Guests scanned the QR code from their invitation at a tablet, confirmed their details, and picked up a printed name badge from the counter beside them a couple of seconds later. Anyone who showed up without pre-registering signed up on the spot at the same station. No second queue, no scanning down a printed list.
The kit is plain on purpose: a tablet for self check-in, a thermal printer for the badge, a clean welcome screen. That's the point. When the first conversation of the day is the one that matters, the registration desk should get out of the way and let it happen.
