Check-in for the Harmony Circles Appreciation Lunch

On 17 January we set up registration for the Harmony Circles Appreciation Lunch at Gardens by the Bay — an event recognising the volunteers who do the quiet, year-round work of keeping communities connected across race and religion, and graced by Minister of State Dinesh Vasu Dash (Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and Ministry of Manpower).

For a lunch like this, guests arrive in a fairly tight window, and many are community leaders whose time you don't want to waste at a desk. So we ran a row of self-check-in stations along the entrance: scan, confirm, and a badge is printed and in hand within seconds. Each tablet had its own printer right beside it, which is what keeps a cluster of stations moving in parallel rather than funnelling everyone toward one bottleneck.

It's the same approach we bring whether it's five hundred people or fifty: make the front door feel effortless, so the moment people walk in they're thinking about the people they came to see — not the queue they had to get through first.
